1) Players must play the ball at all times. Body checking an opponent to the ground will be a one-minute unnecessary roughness penalty. Whenever you have a choice between playing the ball or the man, play the ball.
2) Each game will consist of two 25-minute running time periods with a 3-minute halftime.
3) Penalty time is running time and will be kept by the official. The referee releases penalized players when their serve time has expired.
4) Each team is allotted one-30 second timeout per half. There will be no timeouts within 2 minutes of the end of the game. There are no timeouts during overtime periods.
5) All National Federation High School rules will be in effect. This includes counts, there will be a 20 second count to clear the midline and a 10 second count to advance the ball into your offensive box upon crossing the midfield line.
6) There will be no substitution horns during the game, all subs will be made on the fly
7) All penalties will be served, and time serving penalties will result in an extra-man opportunity
8) All teams are responsible for balls on their offensive end line (use your backup goalie to stand on your offensive end line)
9) Ties will result in a three minute sudden death overtime period. If the score is still tied at the end of this period, it will continue to play out in overtime periods.
10) Referees will keep both time and score on each field.
11) Following each game the coaches should check the score with the referee to
confirm it is accurate.
12) Teams must play every scheduled game, or will be fined $200. If the Shutout Lacrosse staff feels that weather is affecting play negatively the tournament will be postponed until playing conditions are appropriate. There will be no refunds for weather related cancellations.
13) Absolutely NO FIGHTING! Any coach or player involved in a fight will be kicked out of the Shutout Lacrosse Tournament for the remainder of the day. Once you are kicked out there are no refunds. Remember everyone comes to have a good time! There is no questioning the referees’ calls, they are always right.
14) Verbal abuse of an official or tournament staff member will result in immediate exclusion of entire team or the offendind individual from the tournament.
